Breast reduction is a procedure used to remove excess fat, breast tissue and skin from the breasts. Patient satisfaction is very high with this surgery. In fact, most of the patients say that their only regret is not doing the surgery before. My goal is to achieve a breast size proportionate to your body. As with every surgery, breast reduction surgery should be custom planned. Because the needs, expectations and body structure of each patient are completely different.
Both the breast tissue and the skin are removed during surgery and a new breast shape is provided. Breast reduction surgery both reduces and lifts the breasts. The removed breast tissue is sent to the pathology laboratory for examination. If needed, liposuction is performed in front of the armpits and along the sides of the chest to shape the breast. I usually use “vertical” technique, which results in a “lollipop” scar around the areola and down to the infra-mammarian fold.
Age is not a restriction for the breast reduction surgery. Breast reduction surgery can be performed on teens as young as 15 and women in their 80’s. The important thing is the patient’s health when determining eligibility for breast surgery.
